Finished the game moments ago. My hands are still shaking from the last boss.
My mind is filled with theories, vague thoughts of what might have happened…
This game is a pure gem!
Get it on Steam, Humble Store or GoG
At first I was simply impressed by its art style. Beautiful pixel graphics, a great intro and also great first impressions. Wandering around in this abandoned world, discovering its secrets…
Then I got caught in the first fights. I swore a lot, I quit the game the same evening, just to return the next. I fought and swore and died. But soon I figured out how to fight, how to dash, how to… survive.
The bosses were hard. Three of them took me two evenings to defeat. One of them even let me think about quitting the game. But a day later it was still praying at my mind. Now I finished the game and I don’t regret a single second in it.
But there are also a few things I don’t like.
The most unnerving thing this game has to offer is its auto-saves. They work. But it’s often unpredictable when the game will save. Sometimes it’s in every room, sometimes you won’t get a single save for nearly a whole area.
The other things are minor and stopped bothering me after a few hours in the game. But people with less patience could get annoyed by them.
After all, this game was one of the greatest experiences I had in the last years. It has a bit of a Souls game, but in a completely unique way.
I can totally recommend it to everyone who is willing to fight his/her way through a beautiful world.
Beautiful pixel art
Great calm and fitting soundtrack
Tough but fair boss fights
Fun and rewarding exploration
Some small annoyances, which could discourage some players
